White Bread

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup shortening

Heat until shortening is melted.

Add 1/3 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons salt, 2 cups cold water, 1 package yeast softened in 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Mix in 4 cups flour. Knead on floured board. Put into freeased covered bowl. Let rise until double. Divide into 4 loaves and let rise. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
